Steps for Enrolling in the East Side Adult Education English as a Second Language Program at Independence Adult CenterTop of Page
Step 1: Enroll

To register, click on the provided link to select your preferred placement testing date. After you select a date, you must complete the registration form.
(Please do not enroll more than once.)
Step 2: Placement Test

You will receive an invitation via text message and email detailing the location, date, and time of the test.

The placement test:

is a requirement to determine your level of English proficiency.

includes Listening and Reading assessments.

will approximately last 2 to 3 hours. Please make the necessary arrangements to accommodate this duration. (Regrettably, we are unable to provide childcare during your testing session.)

After you complete the test, you will receive a notification regarding your status in five business days via text message and email.
Step 3: Class Placement

You will be assigned to a class based on your test results.

If the assigned class is full, you will be placed on a waitlist and notified accordingly.

Step 4: First day of School

When you are assigned to a class, you will receive a notification via text message and email with details about your first day, including:

Start date

Start time

School site

Instructions to visit the office for your class pass

During the first week, you'll attend a student orientation. A Transition Specialist will explain:
